Australian title contender will start from 10th on Monday.
Milwaukee Yamaha’s Josh Brookes will start 10th on the grid for Monday’s opening MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship race at Cadwell Park after a problem in qualifying meant he was unable to complete a flying lap.
The team worked to get him out on circuit in the final Q3 session, but it wasn’t enough and he narrowly missed out on setting a flying lap by a matter of seconds. The Australian now faces a determined ride to battle through the field tomorrow, starting from the fourth row in 10th.
“We still haven’t got to where we need to be if I am honest yet,” Brookes said. “I am in the mix with the front three and had I been able to do a lap in Q3 I would have been front row of the grid without a doubt. That makes it quite frustrating to think that I have to come from 10th on the grid now.
“I have enough pace to win the race tomorrow, but I expected the bike to be working a bit better because I have ridden it in corners harder and faster at other tracks and had more confidence. I think it is just the nature of Cadwell Park, but the potential is there and I will be trying my best.”
