Australian rider Mitchell Carr is set to resume his debut British Superbike campaign this weekend after recovering from the injury that has seen him sit out the last six rounds.

The former Australian Supersport Champion has been absent with a badly injured shoulder after being knocked off his Anvil Hire TAG Racing Kawasaki ZX-10R superbike in practice for round three at Snetterton, but will make his comeback after almost three months of recovery.

Carr is no stranger to the Donington Park circuit, the local venue for the Swadlincote-based Anvil Hire-backed team, having raced there in last year’s World Supersport Championship round.

“I’m really looking forward to racing my Anvil Hire TAG Kawasaki again,” Carr said. “It was an unfortunate injury but the shoulder has been progressing well and both the team and I feel that Donington Park is the ideal place to return as I have raced there before.

“That will allow me to focus on getting back to race pace and the plan is to finish the season on a strong footing as I have raced on three of the last four circuits.”

Having missed half of the season, the 26-year-old will be looking to make up for lost time in the final four rounds, which all take place at famous venues where he has previously ridden.

Following the Donington Park the championship closes with a trip to Assen in the Netherlands, before moving to another MotoGP circuit in Silverstone, and then the finale on the full GP layout at Brands Hatch, where Carr made his British championship debut on the short circuit in April.
