Reigning two-time MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez believes it’s Australia’s Jack Miller who carries the most pressure in the race for the Moto3 title, against Alex Marquez, younger brother of Repsol Honda’s Marc.

Miller enters this weekend’s Malaysian round of the world championship 20 points in arrears of Marquez, coming off a sensational home victory at Phillip Island last Sunday.

With just two rounds remaining in the series it’s going to be vital that both Miller and Marquez remain focused on strong results in the closing races, but Marc says it’s Miller who is under most pressure to perform.

“In Moto3 the advice is that you must always do the same,” Marquez said. “It’s easy to say, but you must push like in every race. Because the problem is that if you try to relax or you try to calculate, you can finish fifth, sixth or seventh, as there are always six riders fighting for the victory. You need to be aggressive and you need to push.

“The perfect thing would be for [Alex] to finish in front of Miller, but if Miller finishes in front of him it’s not the end of the world. The advantage that he has is that Miller, in this case, cannot make any mistake. The pressure is on Miller to finish in front or to win the race if he wants to win the championship.”

Miller will step up to MotoGP in the premier class alongside the elder Marquez in 2015, after signing an unprecedented three-year contract with the Honda Racing Corporation (HRC).
