Form Guide

The favourite:
Wayne Maxwell – Cast your mind back to last year in Sydney and Maxwell was phenomenal in the ASBK double-header (albeit on a very different specification Suzuki), winning all four races in the process. With another win in the bag at Wakefield Park last time out, this title – and weekend – is Maxwell’s to lose.

Chief opponents:
Jamie Stauffer – The multiple Australian champion has to win this weekend and hope Maxwell has troubles, but regardless of the end result, a win would be a nice way to conclude 2014.

Troy Herfoss – There’s no doubt that Herfoss has exceeded expectations in his comeback to racing and after coming so close at recent rounds, he’ll go all out for his first overall.

Josh Hook – Fresh from winning the MotoGP support races and Phillip Island Championship, Hook has form on his side and could cause an upset come Sunday if he can find consistency in ASC trim.

Glenn Allerton – With the blazing speed of the BMW at his disposal and plenty of recent track time, Allerton stands a strong chance of righting what has been a trying season by his lofty standards.

Ones to watch:
Cru Halliday – The flowing nature of SMP suits his style, determined to hold off Hook for fifth in the standings, and also feature as the top Yamaha for 2014. Expect him to remain in blue for next season either way.

Robbie Budgen – Current ASBK race record holder, eager to hold onto his seat at Yamaha Racing Team for 2015. After a number of Saturday appearances, Bugden could find himself on the round six rostrum when it counts on Sunday.

Rick Olson – After a disastrous season, Olson needs a result this weekend if he’s to retain a ride next year. And remember, he finished the season on a high last year with a win and second in the FX double-header.

Sean Condon – Currently the top-ranked ZX-10R in the standings, Sydney local Condon knows his way around Eastern Creek and should star on home turf. Like many, he started the season strongly and has had ups and downs along the way, but this is his best chance to bounce back since.

Glenn Scott – The form of Scott in the ASBK last year at SMP was spectacular, and if that type of speed can be replicated in ASC trim, he could be back at the front where he was at the season opener earlier this year.

Kevin Curtain – Back in black with the Trinder Aprilia team, veteran Kev Curtain will take on his former Yamaha team that he quit following round one earlier this year. The question is, has the ‘King’ still got it?
