Queensland rising star Aiden Wagner (Yamaha) scorched to the Supersport pole position for tomorrow’s Australian FX-Superbike Championship finale in Sydney, overcoming soaring temperatures on Friday afternoon.

Wagner was the standout in Supersport qualifying fresh from a Moto2 appearance in the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, setting the fastest lap by 0.345s over series leader Aaron Morris (Yamaha).

Behind Morris and Wagner, Callum Spriggs (Yamaha) was over a full second in arrears for third, edging out Michael Blair (Yamaha) for position and Luke Mitchell (Yamaha) rounding out the top five.

In-form Kawasaki rider Matthew Harding led the way in Formula Oz with a fine 1m33.548 again in difficult conditions, trailed by Chris Trounson (Honda), Ben Nicholson (BMW), Paul Byrne (Honda) and Phil Lovett (Kawasaki) – separated by less than half a second between them.

The Pro Twin and Nakedbike session was dominated by multiple-time Australian champion Craig McMartin (Ducati) over Kevin Curtain (Aprilia) in his comeback, while Beau Beaton rode his Vincent 1600 to third. Top of the Nakeds was Angus Reekie (KTM) in fifth outright.

Brandon Demmery was easily the quickest as the lone rider to break into the 1m49s in the FX300 Ninja Cup, leading Kyle Buckley and Bailey Perriton. In the 250s it was Grant Jordan the pace-setter.

Meanwhile in the electric bikes – qualifying alongside the Ninjas – Danny Pottage comfortable claimed pole position in just two laps on his Voltron Evo entry.
