Yamaha Racing Team with Yamaha Motorcycle Insurance has dominated Sydney’s first Australasian Superbike Championship qualifying session of the 2015 season today, with Cru Halliday claiming the Saturday pole position.

Halliday will lead the field away in Saturday’s twin 15-lap FX-Superbike races, his 1m30.829s a new series-best lap on board the brand new YZF-R1M.

It was a YRT with YMI sweep of the top three, as Halliday led home teammate Wayne Maxwell by 0.442s and Glenn Allerton 0.505s in arrears.

Team Honda Racing lead rider Troy Herfoss was fourth at 1m31.718s, marginally ahead of guest teammate Aiden Wagner, who is filling in for the injured Jamie Stauffer on the second of the CBR1000RR SPs.

On the comeback from injury, Sean Condon (Bikebiz Racing Kawasaki) was first of the ZX-10Rs in sixth, just over a second off the pace of Halliday, but around four-tenths quicker than Mike Jones (Australian Outdoor Living/Cube Racing Kawasaki).

The top 10 was completed by Beau Beaton (North Coast V-Twins/Craig McMartin Racing/Racer’s Edge Ducati), Matthew Walters (Kawasaki Connection) and Linden Magee in his first showing on the ex-Team Honda Racing CBR1000RR SP.
