A total of 24,505 motorcycle, all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and scooters have been sold between January and March 2015, figures released by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) has today confirmed.

The 24,505 sales are 1.2 percent less than the sales recorded between January and March 2014, with the 11,066 road bike sales a 2.3 percent decline on this period last year.

Honda was the leading volume manufacturer with 5861 units sold, followed by Yamaha with 4298 units, Kawasaki with 2771 units and Suzuki with 2325.

Honda’s market share has risen from 19.3 percent in the first quarter of 2014 to 23.9 percent in the first quarter of 2015.

“Looking at the road motorcycle market, Honda was again the leading brand, selling 20.4 percent of the 11,066 road motorcycles sold between January and March 2015,” FCAI Chief Executive Tony Weber said.

“Harley-Davidson was close behind in second place, selling 19.6 percent. Harley-Davidson was followed by Kawasaki with 14.4 percent and Yamaha with 13.3 percent. The 11,066 road motorcycle sales represents a 2.3 percent decline on first quarter 2014 sales figures.”

The Kawasaki Ninja 300 again remains a strong seller – highest overall aside from the Honda CT110X – as is the Honda CBR300R as top supersport and Yamaha’s MT07L in the nakedbike segment. Of the adventure touring models, BMW’s R 1200 GS leads the charts.
