Kawasaki Motors Australia spent some time with Kawasaki supported road riders during practice sessions before round 3 of the Australasian Superbike Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Kawasaki Insurances FX300 Ninja Cup series leader, Luke Burgess has lost 4 kilos since round 2 in Mallala, SA. “Losing the weight will let me race a lot faster on a track like this with a long straight and I’ve already seen the improvements during the practice lap today where I was passing people on the straight,” commented Luke Burges of the Kawasaki Motors Finance Racing Team.

Jeff Ware will be the Kawasaki Motors Finance Racing Team wildcard rider for the 3rd round of the ASC this weekend. Having raced for the team as a wildcard rider in the previous year, Jeff said “The only changes to the race bike were adjustment to the front suspension to suit my weight at 97 kilos. I’ve been out on the bike this morning. It is a lot of fun, I’m already grinning. I think it’s a great series for all age groups and the older fellas like me are happy to teach the newer and younger riders in production classes like this. The Kawasaki Motors Finance FX300 Ninja Cup teaches riders to race with finesse and lets them build race craft so I think this is the perfect class for getting into road racing,” commented Jeff who is the Editor & National Ad Sales Manager for Rapid Bikes magazine by day.

Matt Walters is feeling more confident than ever on his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R after recently having surgery on both forearms to help prevent the ‘arm-pump’ he has recently experienced while racing. “I have been doing a fair bit of motocross riding on my Kawasaki KX450F as well as doing a ride day at Queensland Raceway to get things sorted on the bike. During the break since the last round at Mallala, I’ve been chasing more seat time and getting plenty of practice in.”

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R mounted Sean Condon, was feeling comfortable as usual after some clean practice laps this morning saying “I’m feeling good after a few laps. Everything else is in place and we are looking forward to racing over the weekend!”

Jack baker has been training on his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R in Queensland and the signs have been promising with improved lap times. Team Manager and Mechanic, Richard Baker, said “We should go a lot better than when we were here last time during the first ASC round in March. We learnt a lot from that round and we now have a much better setup on the bike for round 3 so we are aiming for a top 10 finish if we have a good run and everything goes to plan.

Spirits are high at Team SA Kawasaki BCperformance as Team Manager, Kelvin Reilly said, “Everyone in the team is really coming along. We have a few riders who are capable of a podium and they are all improving progressively. It’s been really rewarding to watch the team bond and develop their skill levels.”

Owner Principal of SA Motorcycles and Ninja ZX-10R rider for the team, Evan Byles, has found that a slight change in handlebar positioning has enabled him to feel more comfortable on his ZX-10R saying “We moved the handlebars backwards by 10mm which will help me get my lean right and increase the amount of grip the tyres are getting in the corners so I’m feeling pumped for the racing this weekend.”

Runner up in the Ninja FX300 Cup last year, Kyle Buckley, has gelled with his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R after the first two rounds of the ASC saying, “Throughout the first few rounds we have played with the geometry of the bike which has helped a lot and I am feeling really comfortable with my bike now.” The 20 year old has been racing for team SA Kawasaki BC Performance since the beginning of the 2015 ASC series.

Overall the outlook is positive for Kawasaki supported riders in the third round of the Australasian Superbike Championship with an exciting and enjoyable weekend of racing from June 26th to 28th.
