Verdict:
Moto3-type racing highlighted just how good racing is at the top of the sport in national Superbike competition, with Halliday breaking through to claim both his first race and round victory on board the YZF-R1M. It was a well-deserved victory for the #6 and a longtime coming, now finally equipped with a bike capable of winning in the premier class that he used to good effect. Behind him, Herfoss was the most aggressive rider on track in second overall, despite being out-powered down the front straight – losing out to Condon on the run to the line in race one. Condon’s day started out strongly with that first race win, before he came crashing down in turn three of lap one in race two. Completing the podium was Maxwell, suffering from a bad start in race one for fifth, then leading much of race two prior to being pipped by Halliday in the final laps. Jones had a quiet weekend until his improved third in race two, while Walters was much improved across the two races. Allerton displayed good speed and did lead in race one before being bumped off the podium, however his second race was difficult with what was thought to be front-end woes. As for Stauffer, he failed to fire on Sunday and was never really in contention despite showing such strong form the day prior.

Verdict:
The youthful talent that we’ve seen rise in Supersport this year has been promising to see, however it was two-time series champion Olson who starred with a dominant performance in Sydney. After making his return at Mallala, Olson’s ZX-6R was upgraded for SMP and he was the class rider of the field on his way to all three race wins. Those results came following his FX round win the day before. They didn’t come easy by any means, but experienced certainly counted as he mounts a challenge to the series regulars. Elliott was once again at his consistent best, while Guenther, Spriggs, Blair and even Presepio showed pace across the weekend. In the end though, it was Elliott who padded his advantage at the front of the championship.
