Unsung performers from the Sydney Motorsport Park round.

CycleOnline.com.au highlights three standout performances from the weekend’s third round of the 2015 FX-ASC at Sydney Motorsport Park. Radar isn’t intended to be strictly about the winners, it’s about the unsung racers that we spot performing above expectations on any given race weekend.

Matt Walters (Kawasaki Connection) – Superbike, 7th overall:
A revitalised Matt Walters was back where he belongs in Sydney, mixing it up with the factory riders and making the most of recent arm-pump surgery now that he’s fully recovered. A multiple national champion, Walters ran right at the front of the Superbike field for much of the weekend and if he can improve his pace over the closing laps, podiums and potential race wins will be within reach.

Sean Condon (BikeBiz/Ipone/Swann Insurance Kawasaki) – Superbike, 9th overall:
As perhaps the most underrated rider in the country, Sean Condon upstaged all before him with the first race win on Sunday – the first ASC race victory of his career. The celebrations didn’t last long however when he crashed out on lap one of race two, resulting in a lowly ninth overall. But his race one win mustn’t be overlooked, using the strengths of his privateer ZX-10R to full effect and beating the factory teams straight-up.

Paul Byrne (LTR Honda) – Formula Oz, 1st overall:
Irishman Paul Byrne has had come brilliant battles with Ben Henry in Formula Oz over the past couple of rounds and a clean-sweep of Sydney on Sunday showed just how capable the LTR Honda rider is on the CBR1000RR. Byrne didn’t quite make it into the 1m31s bracket on race day, but three comfortable wins helped extend his championship lead following three rounds. The guys at the front in Formula Oz are certainly no slouches.
