MA Elite Performance Academy returns to the Gold Coast

Second instalment of Motorcycling Australia program this weekend.

Motorcycling Australia press release:

Eight of Australia’s best young riders will head to the Gold Coast this weekend for the second instalment of Motorcycling Australia’s Elite Performance Academy (EPA).

The three-day camp, which will focus heavily on on-bike skill assessment and development, will take place from September 5-7.

Four on-bike sessions under the tutelage of EPA coaches Stephen Gall and Wayne Maxwell are planned for the camp, along with a number of psychological testing and development seminars run by renowned sports psychologist, Jacqui Louder.

The final eight riders selected – Mitchell Evans (Motocross), Fraser Higlett (Enduro), Ben Kearns (Enduro), Jaimon Lidsey (Speedway), Broc Pearson (Road Racing), Tom Edwards (Road Racing), Lachlan Taylor (Road Racing) and Troy Guenther (Road Racing) – were all chosen as a result of impressing at the initial EPA camp on the Gold Coast in June.

MA’s National Development Officer Laurence Miller said elements of the upcoming camp would differ from those encountered by the athletes at the first camp.

“There will certainly be a greater emphasis on the riding component at the camp this weekend,” Miller said.

“To accommodate the requirements of the program, the athletes will have the opportunity to use the fantastic facilities under the tutelage of Stephen and Wayne at each of Hatchers Raceway, Performance Driving Centre and the Gold Coast Motorsport Training Centre.”

Miller also thanked the EPA program’s sponsors – Yamaha Motor Australia, Shotz Sports Nutrition and SenseCore and for their on-going support.

“This camp is highly unique and wouldn’t be possible without without the assistance of Yamaha, who have provided TTR 125’s for the training and assessment components of the EPA,” Miller said.

“Additionally, Shotz and SenseCore have again committed to providing their support to the camp by assisting the athletes with their cutting edge products and technology.”
