Australia’s Josh Hook has been confirmed as Dominique Aegerter’s replacement for the upcoming flyaway rounds of the 2015 Moto2 World Championship.

Hook partnered Aegerter to second at the Suzuka 8 Hours as part of the factory-supported F.C.C. TSR Honda outfit, which led to the Swiss Moto2 front-runner suggesting Hook as his replacement.

The Technomag Racing Interwetten team has announced Hook for the Japanese, Australian and Malaysian grand prix rounds, meaning Aussie fans will have a local to cheer on in the mid-tier at Phillip Island following Anthony West’s departure from QMMF.

“I was contacted by around 30 riders,” explained team boss Fred Corminboeuf. “It was Dominique Aegerter who had this good idea. We absolutely wanted someone who knows these three circuits and Domi suggested Josh Hook, with whom he finished in a fantastic second position in the Suzuka 8-hour race last August.

“Having commenced his career in Australia, Josh was defending the colours of F.C.C. TSR in the Japanese Superbike Championship and he has of course ridden in Motegi, as well as Phillip Island in the Australian championship and Sepang with the Asia Dream Cup. We are happy to present you a new grand prix rider as Dominique will not be joining us in the following three weeks.”.

Aegerter is still recovering after suffering multiple injuries at the Aragon round, hit and taken down by Xavier Simeon on the opening lap of the race.

Hook has been contesting the All Japan Superbike Championship fulltime in 2015 with TSR, ranked sixth in the standings with two rounds remaining.
