DesmoSport Ducati’s Mike Jones set the pace across two days of Australian Superbike testing at Phillip Island, his Tuesday laptime establishing him at the top of the order aboard the 1299 Panigale.

Reigning ASBK champion Jones – preparing for a wildcard appearance on 26-28 February – posted a 1m33.233s on lap 20 of 54 during day two, placing him 0.441s ahead of Kawasaki-mounted WorldSBK racer Josh Hook at 1m33.674s.

After setting the fastest time on Monday, Crankt Protein Honda Racing’s Jamie Stauffer was third with a 1m33.837s, unable to match his time from the day prior. He was ahead of teammate Troy Herfoss at 1m33.919s.

Like Hook, fellow international Bryan Staring was on track riding a private ZX-10R and ended the session fifth overall at 1m33.978s, which was ahead of ASBK regular Daniel Falzon on his Yamaha YZF-R1.

SA Kawasaki BCperformance teammates Ben Burke and Robbie Bugden were seventh and eighth respectively on the latest ZX-10R, trailed by Yamaha privateer Superbike class rookie Michael Blair and Jed Metcher, who was also preparing for a WorldSBK wildcard.

Top of the Supersport entries was Mark Chiodo with a 1m37.093s, followed by Cube Racing Kawasaki’s day one pace-setter Callum Spriggs and Alex Phillis, who will contest the WorldSSP race at the end of the month.
