125GP class revived from ASBK round four

Motorcycling Australia press release:

The 2016 Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul and Pirelli (ASBK) would like to announce that 125GP competitors will now accrue points within the Australian Honda Moto3/125GP class from Round 4 of the ASBK at Barbagallo Raceway from June 3 – 5, 2016.

With the ASBK’s commitments firmly focused on the development of the Moto3 and the 125GP class, this change allows riders on all machine types to strengthen individually and provides more opportunities to competitors moving forward.

The 125GP class will still compete within the combined Honda Moto3/125GP Championship class, however from Round 4 onwards the 125GP class will also be eligible to participate in separate podium presentations, and winners will be awarded separately for both classes. The 125GP class will be a support class with the combined Moto3/125GP class remaining the Australian Championship category.

The ASBK live timing system Computime, will display which machine type each rider is aboard to incorporate this change, as well as providing separate points summaries for the Moto3/125GP Championship and the 125GP class.
