Round four of the Yamaha Motor Finance R3 Cup series was contested at Phillip Island over the weekend, with Zac Levy taking a trio of race wins to reclaim the points lead.

Levy swept the weekend’s proceedings to take victory ahead of Hunter Ford and Michael King, while previous title leader Callum Alderson was eighth after crashing in race one.

“It has been a positive weekend!” he beamed. “We didn’t get to practice because I had to pour a house slab on Friday for work, so got down here Friday night and went straight in to qualifying one.

“We came out here with the gearing still from Morgan Park, very unprepared, and in qualifying two I was still down two seconds on Callum, but overall I was happy to get on the front row still.

“I knew in the races I just had to run my own pace and what ever happened, happened and unfortunately for Callum he came under me and lost the back-end and I ended up winning the first race. The next two were much the same, winning both races.

“I have been to Winton a few times, but haven’t ridden there since 2012, and now with a 19-point lead I can go in to round five confident and not stressing like I was for this one.”

Levy now holds a commanding 19-point advantage heading into Winton Motor Raceway’s fifth and final round in Victoria on 30 September-2 October.
