Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team prepared to take it down to the wire at Winton

Team Honda Racing press release:

The Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team are preparing to head to Winton Motor Raceway in country Victoria for the Grand Finale of the 2016 Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli.

With the Factory Honda team taking part in the official ASBK tyre test day at the venue just over a week ago, both CBR1000RRSP Honda riders Jamie Stauffer and Troy Herfoss have fresh experience in both wet and dry conditions at Winton, ensuring their best chance at top results this weekend.

Herfoss, who was unbeaten at the penultimate round at Morgan Park Raceway in Queensland, currently sits in second position in the overall Superbike Championship standings, and shared that he’ll be doing everything in his power to finish the season on a high this weekend.

“When we went to Winton last week for the ASBK test it was pretty wet, but it gave us a great opportunity to refine our wet setup, and we’re feeling confident regardless of the conditions this weekend,” Herfoss shared.

“At Morgan Park it was pretty much a fairy tale weekend for me, and I was able to prove to myself and the rest of the field that we have what it takes to win – being the final round this weekend, we’re obviously hoping to repeat last round’s performance.

“At this stage I’m sitting in a position in the championship where anything can happen, so I’ll be heading out there to qualify well, and put in two solid races, with the hope that will award me with an ASBK title at the end of the weekend.”

Stauffer, who has had a tough season so far with injuries, also shared that he’s looking forward to putting this year’s challenges behind him, and will be heading out on to the track at Winton with the hope to finish the season on a high.

“It’s been a bit of a tough year for me with so many injuries, and with only six rounds, the season goes so quickly,” Stauffer said.

“When we went to Winton for the test, both Troy and myself were able to get in some really valuable time on the bike and that put us in a good position for this weekend.

“With this being the last round of the ASBK, I would obviously like to finish on a high, so the goal at round six is to get a win, or get as close to a win as possible.”

The Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team’s final outing for the year will be at Round 6 of the 2016 Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli at Winton Motor Raceway, Friday September 30, to October 2, 2016
