Dunlop’s Australian Superbike Championship racers have claimed podiums in the championship standings across multiple categories following Winton Motor Raceway’s final round of the 2016 season in Victoria.

Yamaha Racing Team’s trio of Glenn Allerton, Wayne Maxwell and Cru Halliday concluded the season in second, third and fourth positions respectively, capping off a strong campaign for the premier class contenders.

Halliday captured his first ASBK win in race one while also going onto register a new lap record at Winton Motor Raceway aboard his Dunlop-equipped YZF-R1M. The New South Welshman negotiated his way to fifth in race two, crediting him second overall on the day.

Teammate Allerton moved to second in the championship after recording an 8-2 scorecard, awarding him fourth overall. Race one saw the Yamaha rider uncharacteristically down the order, however with further adjustments made prior to the second race, he was able to turn his results around by finishing in second, crossing the line with a 26.9s faster race time than the first.

Previous title-leader Maxwell endured a difficult weekend at Winton after concluding the round in 12th. He was able to finish race one in fourth, although a mistake and subsequent crash in race two saw him unable to complete the 17-lap duration and ultimately denied him the championship. He ended up third in the final standings.

JD Racing Yamaha and Dunlop-supported rider Daniel Falzon also encountered issues at the final round, falling short of completing race one before coming back to secure seventh position in race two. 13th overall meant Falzon wrapped up the year seventh in the championship, but won the privateer challenge in the process.

The Supersport category saw Yamaha-mounted Luke Mitchell claim third in the championship after a positive final round. Mitchell raced to second in the opening race, concluding race two in third place and also crediting him third overall for the round.

Multiple national champion Brandon Demmery managed to claim another title, winning the Over 300 Production championship for the season on board his Yamaha YZF-R3, after taking out second overall at the final round via 2-1-4 race results.

Dunlop tyres were also once again the class of the Moto3 field, as Brian Houghton won the round and championship to wrap up the year at Winton, trailed by Locky Taylor and Tayla Relph in the points chase.
