Colombian flyer Yonny Hernandez has secured his future after being replaced by Karel Abraham at Team Aspar in the 2017 MotoGP series, stepping back to Moto2 with the Arginano & Gines Racing Team riding a Kalex.

Hernandez has been in MotoGP since 2012 and has 84 starts to his credit, with a best result of seventh at Sepang in 2014. He rode two seasons of Moto2 before making the jump to the premier class.

“I’m very grateful and looking forward to be part of this team and this new project,” Hernandez said. “I hope I will be able to fight to be on top. This is a new challenge for me, I hope things go well and we are able to do a good job together.”

Hernandez has been aboard Ducati machinery for much of his MotoGP career, claiming a best of 14th position in the final championship standings last year. Currently with Team Aspar, Hernandez sits 22nds in the points.
