Cube Racing-supported teenage talent Tom Toparis will make his Supersport debut in the Phillip Island Championship alongside this weekend’s Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Toparis has gained significant experience aboard the team’s ZX-6R in the lead-up to the grand prix weekend after winning multiple races in his first season of road racing within the Production ranks.

The Goulburn-bred Toparis has been taken under the wing of reigning Australian Superbike Champion Troy Herfoss upon joining the Ben Henry-managed Cube Racing squad, carrying an open mind into his first weekend in Supersport.

“I’m really excited about heading into this weekend,” Toparis said. “As it’s my first ever Supersport race weekend, I don’t really know what to expect, apart from I hope do well and deliver the Cube Racing team a good result. After a positive two-day test here at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit last week I feel ready as I can be.

“In regards to this weekend, I would be happy, well, I’m not really going to set any goals as it will put pressure on me, so I’m just going to go out there and enjoy the weekend and see what happens. It would be good to finish in the top 10 however – I would be satisfied with that.”

Cube Racing will enter the Australian grand prix round with three riders entered in Supersport – as well as Cru Halliday within the standalone DesmoSport Ducati senior team – as Toparis lines up alongside team regulars Callum Spriggs and Robbie Menzies.
