Bike: 2017 MV Agusta F4 RC

New race kit and livery for limited edition WorldSBK replica.

Following on from the release of the new three-cylinder F3 RC (Reparto Corse – Racing Department), MV Agusta has now unveiled an updated limited-edition race replica based around the four-cylinder, 1000cc machine ridden by Leon Camier in the WorldSBK championship.

The F4 RC is instantly recognisable with its red and white graphic base that is used on the race bike including all the sponsor logos. The number 37 embellished on the fairing is a nod to the same number of constructor’s world titles won by the famous Italian company.

Owners get something a little extra special with this F4 as each RC comes with a wooden box containing high-quality components specifically designed and built for the racing F4 RC – call it the world’s most exotic race kit!

The SC-Project titanium exhaust system has been developed together with the dedicated racing ECU which forms part of the kit. The single seat tail unit included gives it a racer look as do the fuel cap and mirror inserts in ergal aluminium 7075.

The underseat exhaust shroud is manufactured in carbon fiber while the personalised protective bike cover and certificate of authenticity make the F4 RC a real collectors item. Pumping out 151kW in road trim, the F4 RC is the most powerful superbike in its class and with the racing kit output increases to 158kW measured at the crankshaft with the F4 RC in track configuration marks the latest and most potent evolution of MV Agusta’s in-line four-cylinder engine known as Corsa Corta.

The MVICS 2.0 (Motor & Vehicle Integrated Control System) allows you to command many parameters, including throttle sensitivity, maximum torque, engine braking, throttle response and rev limiter intervention.

The inertial platform with a trim sensor utilises three gyroscopes and accelerometers to determine a precise operation of the traction control on eight levels – it can also be switched off entirely. The Bosch ABS 9 Plus with RaceMode utilises a RLM (Rear wheel Lift-up Mitigation) system to prevent rear wheel lift under heavy braking.

Shifting is aided with the 2.0 EAS (Electronically Assisted Shift) quickshifter as part of the standard specification of the new machine. The frame is a TIG welded trellis of chrome-molybdenum tubes with aluminum alloy side plates at its rear.

It is also possible to change the swingarm mounting height with alloy inserts allowing full customisation of the riding dynamics. Not stopping there, the addition of Ohlins racing suspension completes the package of absolute excellence.

Up front, the Ohlins fork USD NIX type 30 with TiN surface treatment has separate hydraulic compression adjustment (left leg) and rebound damping (right leg). The Ohlins TTX 36 shock with piggy-back reservoir offers the same parameters of adjustment as the fork through convenient manual mechanical adjusters.

Included is also a precisely engineered steering damper with manual adjustment, while the braking system is composed of a pair of front 320mm diameter discs as well as Brembo GP four-piston radial calipers. The rear steel disc is 210mm in diameter with four-piston caliper.

Limited to 250 units, price and Australian availability is yet to be confirmed with the F4 RC to be unveiled at EICMA in Milan, Italy, in just over three week’s time along with the rest of the expanded RC range.
