It’s the final grand prix weekend of the 2016 MotoGP season and with all the titles decided, it’s shaping up to be an entertaining finish to the season as riders will be able to go ‘all-out’ for victory on Sunday.

In some ways that’s a good thing, although certainly not as nail-biting as when the titles are on the line. And for some, they will have Tuesday/Wednesday’s official IRTA tests in the back of their minds.

With so many changes going on in the silly season, headlined by Jorge Lorenzo’s transfer from Movistar Yamaha to Ducati Team, it’s going to be a fascinating couple of days. Not to mention the Maverick Vinales’ departing Suzuki for Yamaha.

One of the major things I’m personally paying really close attention to is the KTM Factory Racing project, which will debut this weekend with Mika Kallio at the helm in a wildcard.

The real indication of their pace, I feel, will come once Pole Espargaro and Bradley Smith climb aboard the RC16 next week – current riders, coming from a very competitive satellite Yamaha package and certainly really, really fast.

And another intriguing aspect of next week’s test will be when Andrea Iannone switches from Ducati to Suzuki. On paper they appear to be very different machinery, so it will be interesting to see just how quickly he adjusts to the nimble GSX-RR.

Anyway, we still have a complete race weekend to go, will enjoy every moment of it live on Fox Sports – as we will again next year – and it’s sure to be a cracking way to cap off the season.

We’ll have to cut this a little short for this week as the Foremost Media crew is currently at Qudos Bank Arena working the AUS-X Open for MotoOnline.com.au and a few production clients, so thanks for checking in.
