DPH Motorsport experience a range of emotions in ASBK debut

DPH Motorsport press release:

Round 1 of the ASBK is in the record books and the experienced MX/SX outfit were the rookies, albeit casting quite a shadow in the pits with the well presented transporter front and centre.

It wasn’t the start to the season that Luke Mitchell was after, when another competitor's machine bowled him down from behind in race 1. “After qualifying in P4 for the weekend, I was in position to gain some great points for the championship so I’m really disappointed but these things happen in racing” a disappointed Mitchell said after the race, “we’re already looking towards the next round in Wakefield on March 19 to bounce back”.

After the final race on Sunday evening, Mitchell finds himself sitting 9th in the championship.

Road racing newcomer Boyd Hocking, arguably the least experienced racer in the field experienced the full range of emotions through the weekend, achieving his goal of not last in practice, matched his race number and qualified 34th in the split field, crashed, then experienced a technical issue with the bike in race 2 all to finish with a 14th overall in the Over 300cc class for the weekend.

”I was really nervous coming into the weekend, I’m confident in my abilities on a motorcycle, but with so little time on the bike and having never experienced road racing before, it was a little daunting to say the least, but both Marty and Luke offered plenty of support through the weekend, and although I’m disappointed that I wasn’t able to put myself in better track positions, the team keep reminding me that my total road bike experience now total just 3.5 hours. I’m motivated to keep improving!” an excited Hocking said.

“DPH Motorsport is lucky to have an experienced racing family in the Mitchell's, along with our team as we begin to make our mark in this series. We’re excited to be able to represent our partners at 23 racing events this year, competing against world class fields at each and every one” Team Owner Dale Hocking stated “this weekend has let us experience a full range of emotions, with the only one missing being a race win, so lets hope we can get that experience at Wakefield in a few weeks time!”

DPH Motorsport is proud to be the only team in Australia to contest Motocross, Supercross & Superbike Australian Championships in 2017.
