Productive weekend for Hocking at Wakefield Park

DPH Motorsport press release:

In what can only be described as challenging conditions all weekend, DPH Motorsport R3 racer Boyd Hocking flew the flag for the team on a constantly changing Wakefield Park circuit, while R6 Supersport racer Luke Mitchell recovers from recent surgery.

Racing both the Supersport 300 class and the Yamaha Motor Finance R3 Cup on his 321cc Yamaha R3, Boyd managed to significantly increase his track time and gain some much needed experience, regardless of the treacherous conditions, to finish the weekend with 19-19-16 for 12th overall (Supersport 300 class overall results are split between under 300cc and over 300cc machines) and 4-3-8 for 4th overall in the R3 Cup.

“The weekend was very productive for me, we learnt a lot and are continuing to improve every time I hit the track. My first podium in race 2 of the R3 Cup was pretty cool. Massive thanks to Dad and Marty (Dowd) for all their help over the weekend” a motivated Boyd said on his drive back to the teams Melbourne headquarters.

Team Owner, Dale Hocking: “It was frustrating for us to not have Luke on the grid this weekend as we have lost some ground on the series front runners in the points, but injuries are a part of racing at this level and we can’t wait for him to heal properly and get back on the bike. For Boyd, it was another steep learning curve, but it was great to get some impressive results after the hard work that Boyd and the team have been putting in. We have a busy month ahead with MX Nationals kicking off in a few short weeks, but we won’t be losing focus with the next ASBK round in Winton only 5 weeks away!”.
