The third round of the 2017 Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) saw Cru Halliday and Robbie Bugden finish on the podium across the pair of hard-fought premier class races on Sunday at Winton Motor Raceway in Victoria.

Yamaha-mounted Halliday charged to a pair of third-place finishes to secure third overall for the round and his first overall podium of the season, while Kawasaki BCperformance’s Bugden placed his ZX-10R in second during race one for P4 overall.

It was a strong weekend for leading Dunlop duo Halliday and Bugden, showcasing the tyres’ durability around the freshly-resurfaced three-kilometre circuit as they stormed through the 16-lap race distance. Bugden was particularly impressive from the third row of the grid to keep himself in title contention, now fourth in the standings and closing to within 14 points of the lead.

Bugden’s rookie teammate Kyle Buckley was also impressive over the weekend at Winton, carding 10th overall after battling to an encouraging ninth in race two. He’s top of the newcomers in the standings in eighth with four rounds remaining.

Winton was also a positive round for Triumph charger Mark Chiodo, qualifying second on the grid and claiming second in both 13-lap affairs. His consistent results scored over the round have moved him to third in the standings, as class returnee Sam Lambert also finished on the rostrum after going 3-3 for the weekend on his Yamaha.

“To have multiple riders on the podium at Winton is a great result and my congratulations to Cru and Robbie in the Superbike class, as well as Mark and Sam in Supersport,” commented Dunlop national motorcycle manager Sebastian Mincone. “The Winton circuit always makes for an interesting race and we are very pleased with the results of this weekend.”
