Oulton Park’s 10th round of the MCE British Superbike (BSB) Championship proved to be a challenging one for Australian international Jason O’Halloran, who exited the weekend with damaging results for his title campaign as the Showdown commences.

The Honda Racing rider had difficulty in the wet conditions of race one, mustering up a 10th place finish before improving in the second outing for eighth.

“It’s not been the most ideal weekend for us,” O’Halloran reflected. “I finished race one 10th, it was wet and I struggled a lot with feeling and couldn’t find the grip I wanted or needed with the Fireblade. We started to get stronger towards the end of the race, but it wasn’t enough at that point.

“Race two, we started back on the fourth row and I got caught out with the damp track and the one line in some areas. It was tough to get past some of the guys and I lost about four seconds on the second and third laps.

“We finished about 4.5 seconds off Dan in the lead. Our pace was good and strong throughout the race, but loosing that bunch of time at the start just put us on the back foot a little. I am now looking forward to getting to Assen and making our way up the pack and hopefully scoring a few podiums.”

The Aussie sits sixth in the Showdown standings as just two rounds remain, trailing leader Leon Haslam (JG Speedfit Kawasaki) by 54 points. The next stop on the BSB calendar is scheduled for 29 September-1 October at the TT Cirucit Assen in The Netherlands.
