Highly-rated Australian rising star Tommy Edwards will make his World Supersport 300 Championship debut at Jerez’s final round of the season on 20-22 October, fresh from clinching the national R3 Cup title.

Edwards, 16, will join countryman Reid Battye on the grid in Spain next weekend after landing a deal with Hel Performance – Benjan Racing, which has a rich history of working with Aussie talent in Europe.

“I am super excited to be going to Spain for the last round of the 300cc world championship,” Edwards said. “300cc racing in Australia has been really strong this year and it has been really short notice with a call-up this week, but I’m excited get the opportunity to see how we measure up on the world stage. I would like to thank Rob Vennegoor of Hel Performance – Benjan Racing for this opportunity and my family, friends and sponsors for all their support.”

With an impressive history in dirt track and road race experience overseas via the Asia Talent Cup, Edwards starred in the 300cc categories of the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) this season by capturing the R3 Cup title and scoring second in the Over 300 Supersport standings.
