Aruba.it Racing – Junior Team rider Mike Jones feels this weekend’s final round of the 2017 Superstock 1000 European Championship (STK1000) at Jerez in Spain is his best chance of claiming victory in his maiden campaign in the series.

Jones, who’s coming off a sixth place result in France where he initially challenged for the lead, explained that a beneficial test at the circuit at the beginning of the year will allow him to hit the ground running this weekend with a solid base underneath him.

The Australian recorded a career-best finish of second earlier this season in Germany, with Ducati ace adamant on topping that this weekend to round out the championship with his best result yet.

“I’m super stoked and looking forward to this weekend, I think it’s our best chance so far,” Jones commented. “We had a really good test at the beginning of the year, which will give us a solid base to start with on Friday.

“We also have a plan to make adjustments throughout the weekend based on what we learned in the past three races, where we have taken some really valuable info. My goal is to finish the season with my best result in the class, and I can’t wait to start working with the team.”

Jones currently sits sixth in the championship standings, and is within striking distance of a top finish should the cards fall his way on Sunday.
