Australian champion Reid Battye will compete in the 2018 World Supersport 300 Championship after clinching a deal with the Italian BWG Racing Team aboard a Kawasaki.

Battye, 16, won the Up To 300 series alongside the YMF Australian Superbike Championship this year and will now head to Europe full-time from next season.

“To secure the ride with the Kawasaki BWG team in 2018, I am really happy and extremely grateful to be provided the opportunity,” Battye commented. “It will be an awesome experience for me to live in Italy. It will also be surreal to train and ride with famous WorldSBK riders. I can’t wait to get everything under way and I really cannot thank the team enough for taking me on-board.”

Battye is the second Australian to be announced for the 2018 WorldSSP300 season, joining fellow teenager Tom Edwards (Benjan Kawasaki) on the grid after finishing 25th in a guest ride at Jerez’s final round of this year.
