Youthful Australian to enter third full season with professional team.
Experienced Australian teenager Lachlan Epis will switch to Team Kawasaki Go Eleven for the 2018 World Supersport Championship, remaining aboard a ZX-6R in the series for a third full season.
At only 18 years of age, Epis has been part of a family-operated privateer team for the past two seasons in Europe and will benefit from the official team resources from next year.
“I am very excited to start the next chapter of my career with Go Eleven,” Epis explained. “I am very happy to be in a professional environment with a lot of knowledge and experience in the paddock. I believe that next year with Go Eleven and Kawasaki we can achieve some great results and this is extremely motivating for me. I am also glad to be continuing my relationship with Kawasaki and the ZX-6R, as I believe with the help of my new team we will have a package capable of fighting towards the front every round.”
Team Kawasaki Go Eleven manager Denis Sacchetti said: “I am very motivated, with the arrival of Michael [Canducci] and Lachlan we now have an important season ahead. Both the riders know the Kawasaki ZX-6R well, Epis has riden it since 2015 and Canducci has already achieved several successes. We hope to helo Epis grow him and bring him to high ranking positions – we have a good technical package and it will be important to take advantage of it at 100 percent.”
Epos eventually finished 29th in the WorldSSP standings this year with 10 points to his name, scoring a best result of 10th at Phillip Island to open the season and then claiming 12th at Chang International Circuit in Thailand the following round. He finished nine of the 12 races throughout the season.
