ASBK: Triumph's Casella surprised with 2010 performance

Casella impressed with Triumph during the 2010 Australian Supersport season.

AARK Racing Triumph’s Christan Casella says his performance in the 2011 InsureMyRide Australian Supersport Championship came as a surprise in his first season on the Daytona 675.

Casella stunned at the start of the season when he took a race win and finished on the podium at Phillip Island’s season opener, and he has since continued that form into the season to secure second overall in the series and top privateer.

“We are really pleased with our results in what we were viewing as a learning year for us with the 675 Daytona,” Casella commented.

“We were confident that we would be competitive, as the 675 is known for being quick straight out of the box, but didn’t think for a minute that we would end up with second place overall, let alone take out the Privateers Cup!

“I’d like to thank Andy Offer for giving me the opportunity to race the Triumph, and Peter Stevens Motorcycles and Triumph Australia for their support.

“We’ll be back next year to give it another good crack.”

The Victorian finished behind Team Suzuki’s Troy Herfoss in the standings after finishing second at Symmons Plains in Tasmania alongside the V8 Supercars last weekend.

Casella also posted the fastest lap of the entire weekend with a 56.176, an astonishing Supersport lap that was over half a second than anybody else managed during the round.
