Belgian Joel Roelants will join the Coastal KTM team for the final two rounds of the Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, set to make his Supercross debut at the Sydney and Brisbane rounds.

Roelants finished fifth in this year’s MX2 Motocross World Championship for JM KTM Racing aboard a 250 SX-F and is now set to make the trip to Australia in a bid to gain experience in Lites class Supercross competition.

The deal was pieced together by KTM Australia general manager Jeff Leisk, himself a former Motocross World Championship contender, and Roelants will travel to Australia on 22 November.

“I had contact with Jeff Leisk and he arranged everything for me, a training bike and a racing bike – also a support team that will help me at the races,” 21-year-old Roelants commented from his European base.

“I am really happy they want to help me and I will just go there to try and learn. If I can go there and make a good result it’s okay and I think the people will be happy.”

Roelants will make his debut with the Coastal KTM team at Parramatta Stadium in Sydney on Saturday, 27 November, before making his second and final appearance at Brisbane’s season finale on Saturday, 4 December.

Coastal KTM fields a team supported by KTM Australia in the Super X and MX Nationals series operated by the Coastal KTM dealership that is based in West Gosford, New South Wales.
