Reigning Australian Superstock 1000 C and D Champion Cru Halliday has spoken out about his dream pairing with Josh Brookes and Wayne Maxwell on the Demolition Plus GAS Honda Racing team at last weekend’s Bel-Ray 6 Hour at Phillip Island.

Halliday was drafted into the team at the 11th hour as a reserve rider for Brookes and Maxwell, and although he didn’t race on Sunday, he was able to make his official Superbike debut with a number of laps during practice across the weekend.

“This weekend was a really good experience,” 22-year-old Halliday commented. “The team was very professional and the opportunity to ride a top class Superbike was fantastic.

“I want to thank Richard Parry and Geoff Winzer for putting their faith in me and trusting me with their bike.

“I also want to congratulate Wayne, Josh and the whole team on a superb victory.”

Halliday completed just 20 laps of the scenic Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, his best time “withing three seconds” of the team’s lead riders according to a press release distributed this morning.

The Demolition Plus GAS Honda Racing team were the eventual winners with Brookes and Maxwell, while Halliday impressed team officials in his limited time on the team’s number one Fireblade during practice on Friday and Saturday.

Halliday’s future is yet to be revealed for 2011 after maintaining a successful partnership with Yamaha during the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
