AMA contender Herrin suspended after Daytona 200 collision

Monster Energy Graves Yamaha’s Josh Herrin has been suspended for one race following a controversial crash at Daytona’s opening round of the AMA Daytona SportBike Championship earlier this month.

Herrin and Dane Westby collided in the run to the finish line of the iconic Daytona 200, causing Westby and Taylor Knapp to crash out in a scary incident.

AMA Pro Racing announced today that penalties and an accompanying fine have been assessed against Herrin and Graves Motorsports as the result of actions during the event.

Herrin has been suspended for the Infineon Raceway round on 13-15 May, also put on probation for the entire season – the violation of which shall result in further and more-serious penalties.

The Graves team has been handed a $7500 fine, the entire proceeds of which will be applied to the purchase of additional Airfence for the AMA series.

Herrin’s penalties will not prevent him from taking part in the official AMA Pro test at Miller Motorsports Park on 2-3 May.
