Stronach brothers to debut BMWs in WA Superbike opener

Brothers Ben and Cameron Stronach will debut brand new BMW S 1000RR under the Allight/Bridgestone Motorsport/BMW Auto Classic when the WA Blue Steel Western Australian Road Race Championship season opener takes place at Barbagallo this weekend.

Both Stronach brothers have won a number of state championship titles but never before have they raced in the same class – this year both will be competing for the WA Steel blue Superbike Championship title.

The Stronachs will be joined by a number of other experienced competitors including 2010 Supersport State Champion Ralph Mammoliti, stepping up to the premier Superbike Class aboard the new Kawasaki ZX-10R.

Mark Schnierer on a Honda CBR1000R returns after a year’s break. He will be joined by Adam Senior (Honda), Shane Martin (Kawasaki), Lubi Safrenak (Honda 1000), Andrew Schrape (Kawasaki) and Stuart Adams this year riding the ex-Cameron Keevers Fireblade.

Sunday’s qualifying gets underway at 9.00am with non-stop racing from 12.30pm. Free main gate admission to spectators with a nominal fee of $5 pit paddock entry.
