KTM Racing 1190 RC8R rider Angus Reekie has taken his second Pro-Thunder win in as many rounds at Wakefield Park’s second round of the Australian Formula Xtreme Championship last weekend.
Reekie raced to three wins during Saturday’s separately scored FX Nationals series and then backed that up with another clean sweep on Sunday for a perfect weekend in the twin-cylinder category.
“I was really happy to win the Pro-Thunders,” Reekie beamed. “It’s a good feeling to show what the RC8R is capable of in that class, especially since it’s the bike we raced in the 6 Hour last year and has plenty of kays on it.”
The 24-year-old from Bowral, NSW, also finished second overall in the Formula Oz class on Sunday, a fine performance in the open-class field against a massive variety of makes and models.
“I’ve been making really good progress on the bike since it’s so standard,” Reekie added. “It was good to learn a lot from experienced riders and I was actually surprised to finish on the podium. We had no expectations in that class so it was good to pick up speed and get a good result for KTM.”
Multiple-time Australian Supermoto Champion Reekie posted an impressive 59.610 on Sunday morning in race one, his best ever of the Goulburn-based complex in what is his first full season of road race competition.
