Suzuki's Josh Waters was seventh fastest in AMA Superbike testing at Miller in the U.S. this week.

Australia’s Josh Waters has concluded the AMA Pro Superbike Championship test at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah as the seventh quickest of 21 on Tuesday afternoon.

The 2009 Australian Superbike Champion improved to a 1:51.733 on the second day of testing with the factory Rockstar Makita Suzuki team, 1.4 seconds off the pace of defending champion Josh Hayes’ 1:50.333.

It was a promising return to the U.S. for Waters after he suffered devastating injuries in a testing crash during 2010, and he was using the AMA test to prepare for this month’s Miller round of the Superbike World Championship.

Waters’ Rockstar Makita Suzuki teammate Blake Young – the 2011 AMA Superbike Championship leader – was second fastest at the test with a 1:50.840, while Tommy Hayden was fourth quickest, less than half a second quicker than Waters.

Next best Aussie was ADR Racing team owner/rider Dave Anthony in 13th aboard his GSX-R1000 with a 1:52.392, while teammate Jordan Burgess was 16th with a 1:54.078 and Victorian Chris Trounson (BMW) 17th at 1:54.179.

The final Australian on the time sheets over the course of the two-day test was Trent Gibson, who lapped with a 1:56.565 on his private Suzuki in the 19th position.
