Hayes quickest on Friday at Infineon AMA round, Anthony ninth

Monster Energy Graves Yamaha’s Josh Hayes stormed to the fastest lap during Friday practice at round two of the AMA Pro Superbike Championship at Infineon Raceway in California.

Hayes posted a 1:36.397 to edge out arch rival Tommy Hayden (Rockstar Makita Suzuki), while Jordan Suzuki’s Ben Bostrom was third to be the final man in the 1:36 range.

Two more Suzukis in Martin Cardenas and Blake Young were next best to complete the top five before a trio of BMWs filled positions 6-8 with Larry Pegram, Chris Peris and Steve Rapp.

Top Australian was David Anthony in ninth, while Jordan Burgess was 16th and Chris Trounson 17th.

Ducati-mounted Jake Holden topped the Daytona Sportbike timesheet from Yamaha’s Josh Herrin and former champion Danny Eslick.
