Lorenzo's last lap pass on Stoner regained crucial series points.

Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo is happy after a race long battle at round nine of the MotoGP championship at Sachsenring that saw him make a monumental last lap pass on Repsol Honda’s Casey Stoner.

In a race that saw Lorenzo, Stoner and Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa all take turns at the lead, Lorenzo was able to push past Stoner in the last corner of the final lap to steal second from his championship rival.

“I’m very happy! It has been a fantastic race today. From the middle of the race I got very tired in my left hand so I didn’t know where I could find the force to push and keep pushing to the end,” Lorenzo commented.

“Then Casey stopped the bike a lot two corners from the end so I took profit from it, opened full throttle and in the last corner I went for it. It was a miracle pass!”

The pass was an important one for Lorenzo, gaining him four points on Stoner, who currently leads the MotoGP championship at the series hits the halfway point.

“This race is very important so we are very proud and happy with the result. I have to thank my Yamaha crew who worked very hard to give me a fast bike all weekend, they have been fantastic,” Lorenzo added.

Lorenzo now sits 15 points behind Stoner as the MotoGP series heads to Laguna Seca for round ten.
