Team Suzuki’s Wayne Maxwell won his third race of the double-header Australian Superbike Championship weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park during race one of round five on Sunday.

Maxwell was able to bide his time during the early stages before taking over the lead on lap five of 12, going on to win ahead of teammate Robbie Bugden by 3.773 seconds.

Behind the Suzukis was impressive rookie Glenn Scott, the InsureMyRide Racing Honda rider passing Glenn Allerton (Next Gen Motorsports BMW) also on the fifth lap before sealing the position.

Scott beat factory-supported Team Honda Racing riders Jamie Stauffer and Josh Hook, while Allerton slipped from third early on to wind up sixth.

With that, Maxwell has extended his championship lead to 14 over Bugden and now 19 ahead of early series leader Allerton.
