Samsung Honda’s Alex Lowes has ridden from pole two secure two wins from two starts at Monday’s Bank Holiday race day at Cadwell Park, host of round eight of the British Superbike Championship (BSB).

Lowes made a solid start to the first race but it was points leader Shayne Byrne aboard the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki who got the jump into the first corner.

The pair battled briefly before Lowes found his way back past before the end of the opening lap.

He would remain in the lead until the wave of the chequered flag, defending deftly from Byrne who crossed the line 1.056s in arrears.

Aussie Josh Brookes was also in the mix, and rode his Tyco Suzuki to third place, just under a second off Byrne.

Halsall Racing’s Tommy Bridewell was a lonely fourth, with PJ Jacobsen rounding out the top five some 15 seconds off the leaders.

Josh Waters was an encouraging 12th in the opening race, and battled for a top 10 placing for much of the 18-lap duration.

Race two again belonged to Lowes. He took the lead early in the race before a surprise challenge from Brookes at Park corner.

Brookes made his way into the lead for a brief moment before crashing dramatically, fortunately unhurt.

It did, however, hand the race back to Lowes, who took the win from Bridewell and a recovering James Ellison, who had crashed out of race one.

Waters’ march up the order continued in race two, with the Aussie able to achieve a solid eighth place finish in what has been a much-improved weekend.

Byrne still heads the standings, and has a solid 37-point lead over Lowes. Brookes is a further nine points in arrears, but guaranteed a spot in the all-important ‘Title Fighters’ category.

Aussie riders bookend the podium in the Supersport feature race, with Smiths Triumph’s Billy McConnell breaking through for a narrow 0.142-second win from Ben Wilson.

Samsung Honda’s Jason O’Halloran took third in another fantastic display, while Stuart Easton was fourth and Graeme Gowland rounded out the top five.

Glen Richards brought the second Smiths Triumph home in sixth to round out a stellar result for the category’s Aussie riders.

Polesitter Tommy Aquino won the Superstock 1000 race from Lee Jackson and Victor Cox, while Aussie David Johnson was among seven non-finishers in the stacked class.

Callan Cooper won the Superstock 600 bout, with Levi Day the best of the Aussies in seventh from Mark Wilkinson (13th) and James Mutton (22nd).
