MotoGP megastar Valentino Rossi was admitted to hospital on Thursday after being involved in a motocross training incident at the Cross Club Cavallara in Mondavio.

The nine-time world champion has been cleared of fractures, but suffered mild thoracic and abdominal trauma according to a medical bulletin released overnight.

Rossi is currently third in the MotoGP World Championship standings following the opening five rounds, trailing Movistar Yamaha teammate Maverick Viñales and defending champion Marc Marquez after crashing out of Le Mans on Sunday.
