BSB regular 'needs something better' for Assen's penultimate stop.
British Superbike (BSB) contender Josh Brookes isn’t satisfied with his 3-5 results at Oulton Park’s 10th round of the series, revealing he’ll need to up his game for the following round at Assen if he wants to win the championship.
The Australian sits second in the standing as the Showdown commences, but the Anvil Hire Yamaha rider understands the 22-point deficit to Leon Haslam (JG Speedfit Kawasaki) is a significant amount of points to make up in just five more point-scoring races.
“We’re 22 points behind, it’s a lot,” Brookes commented. “A 22-point gap is a lot to leave here with and try to make up. For me as a rider myself, I’m not satisfied with the weekend. We need to go to Assen with something better.
“I need to win races at Assen, that’s all there is to it. If we’re going to win the championship this year the bike has to be right, I have to ride it perfectly every time out, and we have to have a 100% satisfying weekend.
“That’s what we’ve got to focus on trying to achieve. You try and achieve that every weekend, but that’s clearly what needs to happen for us to have a chance.”
The next round of the BSB series is slated for 29 September-1 October, at the TT Cirucit Assen in The Netherlands.
