MOTO EXPO mastermind Troy Bayliss has confirmed he will accept an invitation from MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez to contest the Superprestigio dirt track event in Barcelona on 13 December.

The event is perfectly timed for the three-time World Superbike Champion, falling a fortnight after Bayliss’ own Baylisstic Scramble Team’s Challenge at MOTO EXPO Melbourne.

“I am excited to confirm that I will be accepting an invitation to take part in the Superprestigio in Barcelona on December 13,” Bayliss said. “It is perfect timing for me, it will be two weeks after MOTO EXPO Melbourne so I will have a good lead-up event to help me prepare.

“This will be the second running of the Superprestigio and I’m sure it has grown now that a lot of top European riders are taking part. I am hoping that it will help raise awareness of dirt track in Australia and we will see some big names return for the Troy Bayliss Classic in the future,” Bayliss added.

Marquez, who is in Australia for the Tissot Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island this weekend said he was thrilled to confirm the Australian motorcycle legends participation in his event.

“This is great,” Marquez said. “I am excited. Hopefully he can come to Barcelona a few days early and practice with me on my track.”

Despite retiring from racing professionally, Bayliss has enjoyed great success in 2014, winning the Troy Bayliss Classic, laying claim to three Australian flat track titles and two Australian Supermoto titles.

Australian fans can see Bayliss in action in the Motul Baylisstic Scramble Teams Challenge at MOTO EXPO Melbourne on 28-30 November. Tickets to MOTO EXPO Melbourne are on sale now via www.motoexpo.com.au.
