WSBK: Kagayama top Suzuki in eighth despite crash

Suzuki Racing PR:

Team Suzuki Alstare Brux rider Yukio Kagayama suffered a big crash, but defied the pain barrier to set the eighth fastest lap of the day.

When he removed his right boot at the end of qualifying, his foot was very swollen and he was taken to the Clinica Mobile for X-rays. The X-rays revealed some damage, so Yukio was taken to hospital for further X-rays and scans.

Team mate Fonsi Nieto struggled to find a comfortable bike set-up and finished the day with the 25th quickest time.
Max Biaggi (Aprilia) ended the day with the fastest lap, with local favourite Ben Spies (Yamaha) second. Carlos Checa (Honda) was third fastest, with Jakub Smrz (Ducati) fourth.

Fonsi – 25th, 1:52.037
I did not find a good feeling with the bike today and I am hoping that we will improve a lot tomorrow, but we have a lot of work to do.  I also had problems with traffic when I was trying to set a fast lap, so really my day was not so good. But now I am thinking positively about tomorrow and the things we can try to make the bike better.

Yukio – 8th, 1:50.556
Yukio suffered a highside today but was able to get on his spare bike and later set his best lap of the day and end eighth quickest. As his right foot was badly swollen, he went to Clinica Mobile, where X-rays revealed some possible damage. Because of this, Yukio was then taken to hospital for further X-rays and scans to exactly determine what damage has been done. Further information should be available tomorrow morning.
