General: Win prizes by supporting the Ride To Work Day

Motorcycling Australia PR:

In conjunction with the 18th Annual International Ride to Work day, Motorcycling Australia (MA) is encouraging all commuters with motorcycles or scooters to ride to work next Monday, 15 June 2009.

Having originated in the USA, motorcycle sport’s world governing body, the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), is embracing Ride to Work Day throughout its affiliated federations to demonstrate that motorcycles are an important form of transportation as well as recreation.

Scooters and motorcycles require much less space to park and manoeuvre in busy cities and relieve traffic congestion, and in addition they use less fuel, cause less pollution and have little impact on road and bridge infrastructure.

By riding your motorcycle or scooter to work on Monday, you will also have the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes as part of MA and the FIM’s Ride to Work Day photo contest, which has been initiated to encourage participation in the Ride to Work Day event and to showcase the use of motorcycles and scooters for transportation purposes throughout the world.

The quality of the photographs, relevance of the subject and creativity/originality will be examined in conjunction with artistic merit, and recognition for the winning entries will be published on the FIM website and in the FIM Magazine.

Entries into the FIM photo contest can be made by following the instructions at

In addition, for those people situated in Melbourne, swing past the MA office on Monday morning 15 June between 8:30 – 9:30am to have your photo taken on your bike, and you will go into the running to win a pair of ‘Andy Strapz waterproof gauntlets.

The MA office is located at 147 Montague Street, South Melbourne.
