World MX: Aussie juniors ready for title fight in New Zealand

MOTORCYCLING AUSTRALIA:

The cream of Australia’s Junior Motocross riders are in final preparation mode before heading over to New Zealand to contest the 2009 World Junior Motocross Championship this weekend, 15-16 August 2009.

The Championship will be hosted by the Taupo Motorcycle Club and is taking place at the Digger McEwen Motocross Park in picturesque Taupo, four hours from Auckland on New Zealand’s North Island.

Australia Team Manager Mark Willingham is extremely excited by the prospects of the Australian riders in Taupo, and is equally thankful to those who have worked hard in ensuring Australia’s first-ever trip to the World Junior Motocross Championship will be successful.

“It would not be possible without the help of many people such as Sian Smith from Motorcycling Australia, who has put in countless hours organising things like travel arrangements and marquees/provisions at the event,” Willingham said.

“All the MA office staff have been very helpful as well, while I would also like to acknowledge Quentin Fear for his assistance with very competitive air freight rates through DGI (Dangerous Goods International).”

“Finally, a big shout out goes to Craig from Ringmaster Images who has provided the entire team with artwork and printing of bike numbers for the event which have come up fantastically well… as well as staff from some of the manufacturers who have put in a big effort to ensure their riders have the most comfortable environment possible in regards to their bikes, equipment and personnel,” Willingham concluded.

Australian Team Members will board flights from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne tomorrow morning and the team will then make the four-hour drive from Auckland to Taupo and arrive there by Wednesday afternoon.

Thursday will involve a 9:00am team meeting followed by riders being given the opportunity to practice on a nearby track and to acclimatise themselves to the local conditions.
