Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo topped Monday’s post-race test session at Brno in the Czech Republic overnight, bouncing back from his crash in Sunday’s grand prix to set a lap of 1:56.171.
The Fiat Yamaha rider’s lap was almost half a second faster than teammate Valentino Rossi’s best, also just a few tenths of a second slower than Rossi’s pole position time from the weekend.
Rain caused some delay in the afternoon, but it was Repsol Honda that many eyes were on since the factory team tested Öhlins suspension instead of the usual Showa units.
Dani Pedrosa was third fastest with Rizla Suzuki’s Loris Capirossi directly behind him in fourth, while the second of the Repsol Hondas with Andrea Dovizioso onboard rounded out the top five.
Current 250cc Grand Prix contender Mattia Pasini was slowest at the test over three seconds off the pace, but enjoyed his introduction to the premier class machinery. He’ll now return to focus on his 250 title effort.
