General: KTM launch 2010 off-road range with dealership ride

KTM AUSTRALIA:

Motorcycling manufacturer KTM took to the track for the launch of their 2010 off-road (EXC) and motocross (SX) dirt bikes with over sixty dealers from around Australia testing the new models on a mixed enduro and motocross style course in Connondale QLD.

Models tested included the 2010 enduro range comprising of the 125, 200, 250 and 300 EXC two stroke bikes, plus the 250, 400, 450 and 530 EXC four stroke bikes.  From the SX motocross range models included the 150 and 250 two stroke, and 250 plus 450 four stroke.

The ride day coincided with KTM Australia’s annual dealer conference at the Hyatt Coolum, where dealers were recognised for motorcycle, power part and power wear sales.

Guest speakers at the conference included Hubert Trunkenpolz, sales and marketing director for parent company KTM Sport Motorcycles AG, whose name lends itself to the abbreviated KTM (Konrief – Mattighofen – Trunkenpolz), while regular guest Franz Soellhammer, KTM Australasian Export Manager, made his fifteen and final trip in support of KTM Australia’s operations and dealer network before his retirement at the end of the year.

Anticipation built with Hubert Trunkenpolz’s talks of the impending KTM 350 SX-F motorcycle scheduled for launch in 2011, which Trunkenpolz confirms will open a new capacity for racing motorcycles, given not too many riders can reach the full potential of a 450 machine.

KTM Australia General Manager, Jeff Leisk hosted the conference congratulating dealers on continuous sales in a current harsh environment.  “The KTM brand has always been renowned for reliability and quality, and although KTM motorcycles are known to be at the higher end of the market it has not had an impacted on sales,” said Leisk.  “This is a combination of a reliable brand with top shelf components, and the outstanding efforts of our dealerships in converting sales.

“The new 2010 range is now on dealership floors with various models receiving upgrades to the bikes frame and handling characteristics. Dealers are already reporting a great level of interest for the new models reiterating consumer loyalty in the brand.”

2010 KTM EXC and SX models can now be viewed on-line at www.ktm.com.au.
