Teenager Ryan Dymond has been awarded the Reece Bancell Memorial Foundation Scholarship Award for 2010, the announcement made at the RBMA charity auction and dinner on Saturday night.

The 16-year-old Queenslander was a surprised winner of the prestigious award at the event staged at Sydney Olympic Park in Homebush, looking forward to racing next season after a limited schedule in 2009.

Dymond joins the likes of Dutch Superbike Champion and last weekend’s Oran Park 6 Hour winner Gareth Jones in receiving the scholarship, following in the footsteps of Superstock 600 young gun Rick Olson, who won the award for this year.

After a successful Junior career, Dymond has only completed minimal events this season after stepping up to the Superstock 600 category, impressing on debut at Eastern Creek in August with 11th overall and a best race result of eighth in the final race of the weekend.

Dymond was the 2007 MRRDA Series winner, finishing second in last year’s series on a Honda CBR150.
