Oz SX: Grant and Millsaps hope to return for Super X in 2010

American visitors Josh Grant and Davi Millsaps have confirmed that they’d like to return for a full season of the Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, next season after making their debuts in Brisbane last Saturday night.

The leading AMA Supercross contenders made the last minute trip to Brisbane’s season finale after it was announced that James ‘Bubba’ Stewart would be pulling out of the event due to illness, with both Millsaps and Grant surprised at the level of domestic Supercross in Australia.

“I was pretty surprised with the series over here to be honest,” said Muscle Milk/JGR Yamaha rider Grant. “The track was good and the riders here are fast, so hopefully next year I can come out for the AMA off-season for a couple of months and race the whole series. That’s what I’d like to do.”

The night didn’t go as planned for Grant, an AMA Supercross race winner earlier this year, crashing hard in practice and jarring his knee before deciding to call it a night after race one when the rain fell.

Millsaps was impressive in his first race on Australian soil, racing his Honda Racing CRF450R to second overall for the round after pressuring Reed throughout the night, also stating he’d like to return for more next season from the podium.

The seven round Super X series wrapped up in Brisbane with over 24,000 fans witnessing the action on the country’s longest ever Supercross track. Next year’s calendar is expected to be released early in the new year.
